Welcome
to Maplewood at Lynchburg. Nestled among tall, old maple trees, Maplewood
is listed on the National Registry of Historical Places and is the childhood
home of Miss Mary Evans Bobo, famous owner of the Miss Mary Bobo’s
Boardinghouse. Our home is ideally located just 1.3 miles from the Jack
Daniel’s Distillery and 1.5 miles from historic downtown Lynchburg
filled with interesting shops and eateries.
Come and enjoy a delightful stay in our 1858 antebellum home. Relax (by the fireplace in the autumn and winter months) in the lovely parlor and view the seven pastoral murals painted on the wainscoting. These are the only documented work of its kind in Tennessee and very possibly the entire southeastern United States. Experience a peaceful quiet rest in our spacious guest room with its own private bath. Coffee is available in your room and can be enjoyed on your own private balcony overlooking the tranquil Mulberry Creek running directly in front of the house. Awake each morning to a full course Southern breakfast served in the pretty rose dining room. (Our dining room fireplace is cozy during the cold months!) If you feel like some outdoor recreation, old fashioned lawn games such as croquet and horseshoes are available on the side lawn. You can enjoy a leisurely stroll or “power walk” in a peaceful rural setting on our road that is a designated pedestrian walkway. After exercising, “sit a spell” in our shady backyard swing area. We also have fiction and nonfiction books as well as movies available for our guests’ pleasure. $95.00
